Physical Properties of Minerals
physical property - characteristics or behaviors that are always the same with an element
or compound (combination of elements).  Most minerals are compounds and can be
identified using their physical properties.
When we identify minerals, we may use the following physical properties:

Rarely is one physical property significant enough to identify a mineral.  A combination of
several will usually help make the identity of a mineral known.
